Have you answered the question from my previous post yet? If so, now your ready for the next step, choosing your blog host solution. You can choose between the many free options or a paid hosted solution or you can manage the whole kit-and-kaboodle.
The free hosted soltutions provide you with everything you need, except the time, to make your posts. Most of them can be setup in a matter of minutes with little to no technical experience. A few of the most common free options are:
- blogger (blogspot)
- wordpress.com
- live journal
- myspace
- blisslogs (I had to throw this in since I would offer a free blog to my readers, if requested)
Any of these choices will work for a majority of bloggers that just want to share information. However, if you want to monitize your blog in the future, your free choices become limited. I tried this with a free wordpress blog, but soon found out that the free version of this software does not allow many of the scripts needed to use all of your monetizing options. I have heard similar things about most of the others. However, I have been having a fair amount of success with my blogger account from google. It was quick to setup and easy to modify.
The next most popular choice is to buy a domain name and setup your blog on a web hosting company’s hardware, refered by me earlier as the kit-and-kaboodle option. This happens to be the solution I am using right now. With this solution, I was able to pick the domain that fits me, blisslogs.com. The next step is to find someplace to host your site; there are many options out there, let me know if you need more information. You now have the flexibility to install the blogging software of your choice. My choice is wordpress for the flexibility it provides. Take note, this version of wordpress is different than the free one listed above. When you host it, you have much more flexibility in the design and coding of your blog. There are many themes to choose from to change the look and feel of you site.
After all of these decisions and tasks have been completed you are ready to start making posts. Once you do, don’t forget the answer to that question.
