I recently posted a review of John Chow dot com to partake in his “Review my blog & get a free linkback” endeavor. It became abundantly obvious that he posted the linkback to my site today; as I’ve had more visitors today than what has shown up in the past week combined. I initially thought that this linkback would be beneficial in order to bump up my Google PageRank. After thinking about it, it doesn’t appear that I will reap those benefits quite as much as I had initially hoped anyway. From what I understand about Google PageRank, I will receive a percentage of any linking site’s PageRank. The problem with this in conjunction with the linkback promotion is that with each grouping of linkbacks from John Chow’s site the receiving site will receive less and less in the form of PageRank weight. The one benefit of the linkback that could become quite beneficial is all of the traffic that is sent my way. My hope now is that some of the readers that visit this site do find something of interest and become regular visitors. Time will tell, but I wanted to thank Mr. Chow for the link.
