Comment Spam

I’ve had comment spam on past blogging endeavors and taken the necessary steps to correct the issue. What I have notice the past couple weeks is that the comment spammers have become more sophisticated, or rather more simplistic. There has always been the blatant spam posts: “I love your site, mine is at http://www.spammersite.com” This one was obviously not to add to the value of your post but rather to provide unsolicited links to theirs. This type is obviously spam and I have no qualms of merely marking it as such and not allowing it to show up in my comment stream. Where my new issues arise is the very generic comment that could be spam or could be legitimately contributing to my post. Those comments look something like: “I agree with your post, I use that product too.”

I am curious as to how the major bloggers handle content. Do you moderate every comment? Do you moderate only the users first comment? Do you try to catch the spam after the fact? I foresee a major portion of my blogging time moderating the questionable comment spam messages.
