I figure 1 month is a good spot to give an update as to what progress has been made on the site. Those first two days where a whirlwind. I decided on the domain name to buy, arranged for web hosting, installed my blog software, and made my first post. Since those first two days, I’ve learned a lot about blogging, SEO, and site management. I’d like to think that my writing skills have improved in that time as well. This first month was spent finalizing on a theme, via trial and error; making a few posts on how a new blogger enters the blogosphere; and finding and using a bunch of WordPress Plugins.

Most of my time this first month was spent learning. I found many successful blogs to read, which have inspired ideas for blog posts of my own. By posting comments on some of these other blogs, I’ve introduced others to this site. The traffic growth has been slow to come, but hey, it’s only been one month. This last week, I’ve seen the comments increase, both spam and legitimate. This increase may be due to the content, or maybe it’s due to the “Show Top Commentators” plugin; which provides a linkback to your site if you comment here.

As far as rankings go. . . my Google PageRank has remained at 0; my Alexa rating has improved to 321,789; my Technorati ranking has improved to 153,931; and my feed readers are up to 4. While not extremely impressive, these numbers do show growth, with the exception of the Google PageRank. I am leaning towards believing in the myth/rumor/urban legend of the existence of the “Google Sandbox“.

Pagerank doesn’t get updated very often – a few times a year I think? But the Alexa ranking (now 284,633) and the Technorati numbers are great signs of progress!

Thanks Jon. I hadn’t realized that Alexa updated me again. I finally broke the 300,000 mark. Let’s see if I can break 200,000 by the end of the month.

Seems that your technorati rank has dropped to over 300,000. Though I believe they were doing some technical cleanups recently that affected a lot of blogs.

Makes me kind of wonder though – how’d you get into ReviewMe with such stats? I thought they (used to?) have higher requirements…

I was surprised as to the acceptance into ReviewMe as well. I applied without expecting to be accepted.

Hmm… rather interesting. If I don’t get accepted in next month, I’d be very confused. Thx for the info Jason.

Good Luck with that ReviewMe application.
