I was watching the E! channel the other day. The more I watched, the more I realized that this channel is one big video blog, at least 4 of its most popular shows anyway. If you don’t believe me, think about it . . . . and follow me here:
- E! News: This corresponds to your everyday posts of a blog. For those times when they have a major even, this show becomes a pillar post. As all we bloggers know, making the occasional pillar post is essential to drumming up more traffic. The past couple weeks, they’ve had the major event/circus of determining the father of Anna Nichole’s baby to increase viewership.
- Daily 10: This show is your daily speed link. You get the 10 most talked about events of the day. You think they are doing this to get those celebrities to endorse the show like bloggers do it to get the recipients to visit their site?
- the Soup: We all need to personalize our blogs and add some humor now and then. The Soup accomplishes this by sarcastically reporting news stories and poking fun at celebrities within those stories.
- 101 Series: All blogs will eventually make a post with title something like – “101 ways to generate traffic”. This series of shows accomplishes that likeness. The bloggers do this to interest readers to get them to visit their blog. E! broadcasts this show to do the same thing. Try telling me that “101 Most Shocking Moments in Entertainment” wasn’t put together for the sole purpose peaking the interest of the viewers in order to get them to tune in to the show.
Now it’s up to us viewers to subscribe to the E! feeds with our Tivo boxes. Video blogs (vlogs) are bound to be the next big wave of the blogosphere, soon to be vlogosphere. If you want to get in on this next big wave, do your research by watching E!
