Turn Green on EarthDay 2007

If you didn’t know, today is EarthDay 2007. At least it is acknowledged as such in the States. Is it all over the world too? Green could have a couple completely different meanings. 1) Saving the Earth and 2) making money. (Do any countries have green money anymore? I know the US has been adding color to theirs lately.) What can you do to be Green?

Well, for the blogger, there isn’t much your blog can do to save the Earth so you can focus on making money. There are many sites out there that tell you how to make money online, I’m sort of one of them. Make money by becoming an affiliate to sell items through your site. Make money by placing ads strategically on your site to promote clicks. Do reviews, for a price through reviewme or payperpost, etc. Compile all of your findings on the subject of making money online together to create your very own ebook to sell. I’m sure there are many others that I just can’t think of at the moment.

If you want to turn green to help save the Earth, there are many options out there. But who’s to say that you can’t make some money by taking this option. Replacing regular, inefficient lightbulbs with compact florescent lighbulbs (CFLs) can make a big difference, for both the environment and your electric bill. Purchase a travel mug to take to Starbucks to get your morning cofee. Many of the Starbucks franchises will give you a discount when you bring in your own cup. This not only saves you the money on your coffee, but it saves by not adding all those cardboard cups to the landfills around the world. Take shorter showers to save on water use, which is reflected in your water bill. If you are willing to sacrifice your selfishness and turn green in a way that doesn’t add green to your wallet, perform the simple task of recycling. You can find out your local communities recycling guidlines by visiting Earth 911.

Now for the blogger. . . you can educate your readers by providing the many ways we can all save the Planet. There are enough ways to do this to provide content for a blog for years to come. If you have a blog dedicated being green and saving the planet, I will subscribe to that feed. I don’t mean to get all preachy with this post, but I was inspired by the day and wanted to share with you.

What do you think to Sheryl Crow’s idea of using one square of toilet roll?

I think it’d be a better idea to stop making Sheryl Crow CD’s and save THOSE resources ;-)
