Choose your anchor text wisely when commenting

Notice: This is a quick and easy way to improve your sites rank for a particular keyword.

With the recent explosion in the use of the various commenter display plugins (i.e. Top Commentators and Recent Comments), you know have the perfect opportunity to get a backlink with the keywords of your choice. The mistake many people make when commenting on other blogs, is to enter your name in the name field. What you should be doing is entering a wisely chosen phrase for your backlink anchor text.

Benefits of choosing commenter anchor text other than your name:

Do you think JC got to be #1 for the search term “Make Money Online” by accident? No, he got there by getting people to link to him with that anchor text. Many of us are smaller blogs that don’t have the reach of a JC and can’t persuade that many people to link to us with specific anchor text. These great plugins now give us the power to do it ourselves. You have the power to improve your search rankings for any phrase you want as long as you use it when commenting on other blogs. I’ve already discussed the importance of commenting on other blogs, but now you have to put some extra thought in those comments. Now all you have to do is find lots and lots of blogs to comment on.

Benefit of choosing your name as the anchor text for your comments:

I just got done telling you that you should choose anchor text other than your name when commenting on other blogs, but now I’m prepared to tell you that it’s ok to keep using your name as the anchor text. First, doing this gets your name known. Having people know your name and associate it with your blog ads that personal touch to it that can help your blog grow. Another reason to use your name as anchor text is to help defeat your google twins.

So you see, there really is no wrong way.  If you make sure you’re consistant with the anchor text you choose, your sure to see improved search engine rankings after you comment on all those blogs (including this one).
