quote from a meeting today

OK. This is a real quote from a meeting I was in today. If you’re from the IT field, it will have a completely different meaning than if you’re not. Enjoy. . .

“I need the network guy to sniff while the app guy takes a dump”

What is your interpretation of that statement? Nobody said anything about it till a non-technical person just started laughing. Soon the whole room was laughing.  There’s my attempt at poor taste humor.

My xbox 360 is funnier than me

My xbox 360 was getting jealous that I was neglecting it for this blog, so what does it do but go out and start a blog of his own. That’s right, I have no say in what it posts other than it posts about my activity and games played. It seems to think it’s better than us humans too, I may make the argument that it makes spelling mistakes just like us humans. If you have an xbox 360 and have broadband Internet connectivity, give your 360 a voice at 360voice.

XBox Red Ring of Death

Is it a plot by Sony or simply another glitch in a Microsoft design? We all grew accustomed to the Microsoft Windows “Blue Screen of Death” in the 80’s, 90’s, and 2000’s. Are we now going to accept the XBox 360 equivalent? At least Microsoft is acknowledging the error in their support site. Not only is Microsoft acknowledging it, the are reacting to it as well. In a move that will cost M$ over $1billion, they are extending the warranty on the 360 from 12 months to 3 years. If your 360 begins showing these symptoms, contact Microsoft support immediately to get it resolved.  Or, if you don’t want to deal with support (even though you ARE still under warranty), you can try to fix it yourself.  Warning:  This fix for the XBox 360 red ring of death will definitely void your warranty.

This will undoubtedly cause many people to question the reliability and quality of the XBox 360 and possibly divert them to purchase the Sony Playstation 3. This, in conjunction with the rumors of Sony dropping the price of the PS3 next week, will surly hurt the Microsoft bottom line. If the rumor of the PS3 price drop is true, this could turn out to be the best Sony marketing move in years, if not ever.

Sony got beat in the 70’s with that whole VHS vs. BetaMax war, and never again became the dominant electronics figure that they were destined. Their similarities with Apple are amazing. Both companies have historically provided the superior product only to get out marketed by their rivals. This time, their rivals are the same; Microsoft – But the outcome may turn out to be completely different. Microsoft has a product that is getting a lot of press for it failing, while Sony is getting some press because it is considering lowering their consoles price.

Nothing is set in stone yet. The XBox 360 red ring may turn out to be less of an issue than what is in the press. Sony may decide to not lower the PS3 price (a move that would be monumentally stupid!). What I do know is this; my XBox 360 has worked great each and every time I attempted to use it and the game choices are top notch. I’m looking forward to the release of Mass Effect in a few months.

Was the iPhone worth the long lines?

If I had known ALL of its functionality, I may have stood in line for 4 days too. . . . Well, maybe not. This video was apparently first aired on the Conan O’Brien show. I specifically like the hand grenade functionality. How many of you already have one?

Lost Answers

What’s with this show? Why did all these characters come together? Are they all already dead? How can the characters see their dead dads, a horse from their past, fellow psychiactric ward patients that never did exist? How can Desmond see the future? Why do pregnant women die on this island? Why can Locke walk? Who is Jacob and why is he invisible? How does Naomi know Desmond?

You didn’t really expect answers in this post did you. This is the show without answers, just questions piled on top of questions. I know many people have given up on this show because they aren’t getting the answers they want. I don’t know why I am sticking with it other than the fact that I am intrigued enough to stick it out. The only thing that will stain this show for me is if these questions don’t get answered within the next 3 years, when the show is scheduled to end. Anyone think they have the answers? Lets hear all your theories.

Sony Playstation Downfall

In another sign that the Playstation has lost it’s dominance in the home gaming environment, the father of the PlayStation, stepped down as head of Sony Computer Entertainment. The press release made it sound like everyone was happy with the outcome, however rumors are circulating that a power tug-of-war has been occurring for some time now.

What does Microsoft think of this? Bill Gates wasn’t available for comment from BlissLogs at this time, but a reliable source said that his official response was: “WHOO HOO!!! I knew the XBox 360 would prove to be the downfall of Sony Entertainment”.

And Nintendo’s response? Nintendo’s CEO, Satoru Iwata, definitively expressed his lack of interest. “Why would I care what’s going on at Sony? We’re kicking their butts in the console war with the far superior Wii.”

These quotes are what I expect the responses to be and are not to be taken as an exact quote from these men. That should take care of the legal stuff.

E!, the Vlog

I was watching the E! channel the other day. The more I watched, the more I realized that this channel is one big video blog, at least 4 of its most popular shows anyway. If you don’t believe me, think about it . . . . and follow me here:

  1. E! News: This corresponds to your everyday posts of a blog. For those times when they have a major even, this show becomes a pillar post. As all we bloggers know, making the occasional pillar post is essential to drumming up more traffic. The past couple weeks, they’ve had the major event/circus of determining the father of Anna Nichole’s baby to increase viewership.
  2. Daily 10: This show is your daily speed link. You get the 10 most talked about events of the day. You think they are doing this to get those celebrities to endorse the show like bloggers do it to get the recipients to visit their site?
  3. the Soup: We all need to personalize our blogs and add some humor now and then. The Soup accomplishes this by sarcastically reporting news stories and poking fun at celebrities within those stories.
  4. 101 Series: All blogs will eventually make a post with title something like – “101 ways to generate traffic”. This series of shows accomplishes that likeness. The bloggers do this to interest readers to get them to visit their blog. E! broadcasts this show to do the same thing. Try telling me that “101 Most Shocking Moments in Entertainment” wasn’t put together for the sole purpose peaking the interest of the viewers in order to get them to tune in to the show.

Now it’s up to us viewers to subscribe to the E! feeds with our Tivo boxes.  Video blogs (vlogs) are bound to be the next big wave of the blogosphere, soon to be vlogosphere. If you want to get in on this next big wave, do your research by watching E!
