Bloggeries Blog Reviews

rate5.gifYou saw my post a couple days ago that I won a prize from the prize blog. That prize was a blog review from Bloggeries and today is the day of that blog review. They must have found something the liked about this blog because I got what appears to be their top rating of 5. The downside to getting a review this positive it the inflation of my head. It took my 5 year old boy beating me on an xbox360 game to let a little air out.

One thing that was mentioned in the review is the lack of advertisements on this blog. Chrissie hit it right on the head when she assumed that my current goal it to help other bloggers out there. Don’t get me wrong, I plan on monetizing this blog at some point, but it’s not ready yet. When did you monetize your blog? Did you wait for a certain number of daily visitors? A certain number of subscribers? A certain number of posts? Or did you put ads on your blog before your first post?

MeAndMyDrum Blog Review

One of the things that I like to do with this blog is to bring attention to other blogs. The main theme of BlissLogs has always been blogging about blogging and I recently came across another site with this theme as well. MeAndMyDrum has been active about as long BlissLogs and seems to be on a similar path. They are currently running a little promotion to get some reviews and will pick at least one reviewer to win a Google Adwords coupon and a banner ad on their site for 30 days.

MeAndMyDrum launched on February 20th and they already have over 100 posts. It started off with posts about current events but within a month they began to blog about blogging and haven’t looked back since. There are many posts worth reading. I’ll let you visit the blog yourselves to read them all, but I’ll give you a quick rundown of my initial thoughts of the overall blog.

If you’ve read some of my blog reviews in the past, you know that I like to give some feedback to help them improve the site. I don’t like the reviews that just list everything that is great with the site. On that note, I think the right sidebar is currently space wasted. There is a lot of icons and images that just seam unnecessary. Being new to the blog, I figured the best place to start reading would be the beginning. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find an archives section to quickly get to the first posts. Other than those little points, I think the posts are definitely worth the read. The way I’ve gotten around those petty gripes is to subscribe to the feed. That way, I’m sure not to miss the quality posts that I’m sure are to come. I was happy to see that it is a full feed. All too many blogs these days only give a sneak peak into the post on the feed and make you visit the site to finish reading it. This blog integrates their love of drumming into their new found love of blogging. It is obvious that they have become passionate about blogging based solely on the quantity of posts they have manages to whip out over the last 90 days.

My recommendation: head on over to MeAndMyDrum to get another perspective on the blogosphere. Don’t forget to tell them I sent ya.

Happy Blogging!

Create a Blog – Review my blog for a linkback

I am officially changing the requirements for my review my blog for a linkback campaign. The rules are simple:

  1. Write a review of my blog. Tell people what it’s about, what you do and don’t like about it, etc.
  2. Include 2 links to my site. One that points to my home page: http://www.blisslogs.com with the anchor text “create a blog” and the second link that points to this page with any anchor text you see fit.
  3. Email me with the details of your review.

Smart Guy Blog Review

In a warm-up to those ReviewMe requests that I’m sure will be coming in any second now, I decided to review a blog that is offering a returning review linkback. Since I am asking for reviews from bloggers, I would be remiss to not do some myself. Today I’ve been navigating around Johnny Fuery’s blog where he claims to be a Smart Guy.

Why did I pick his site? Well, he commented on mine letting me know about his linkback routine. That and the fact that he has references to The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy spattered throughout his site. I have a couple subtle references here on BlissLogs, which gives me a promotion idea. More on that in a future post. Back to Johnny Fuery. . . Read the rest of this entry »

Make Money at Home – Linkback campaign

******Update:  I am updating this post to change my requested anchor text.  “Make money at home” too closely resembles too many other review me initiatives of blogs that I read.  While I believe that competition does promote a better product, I have decided to completely change mine to “create a blog”.  It fits in with many of my posts and gives me the flexibility to blog about many blogger topics.  So write up those reviews with the anchor text of create a blog pointing to my site and I will return the favor.  Don’t forget to fill out my contact me form after you made your review.  I will make a dedicated post announcing this change as well.******

I am trying to get the phrase “make money at home” become a legitimate phrase, not associated with spam. Not only is that phrase the subject of a majority of spam in my junk mail folder, but a search for “make money at home” on Google led me to a bunch of sites that are only slightly better than spam. Yes, they do help you make a little money online, but most of those sites also want a cut of it for themselves. My goal is to make it to the first page of this search and do it without sharing my readers revenue.

I am going to follow suit of some other respected bloggers and launch a linkback campaign to achieve this goal. John Chow’s Make Money Online, Jon Lee’s Web Development, Jason Neuman’s Make Money, and Gary Lee’s Internet Marketeer are all running very similar campaigns.

So here’s the deal: In exchange for a review of my site, I will provide linkbacks to your site with your chosen anchor text. I know this site currently has a PageRank of 0, and realize that that might not be too inviting. To help give a slightly higher incentive, I will duplicate the links in my other blog that has a PageRank of 1. I only ask that your review of my site is honest, is at least 150 words, and contains a link to my main page, and this page. The link to my main page should have the anchor text of “make money at home”.

An example of what it could say is: Jason Spence is trying to eliminate the animosity of the phrase “make money at home” by providing real help for you and your website.

Once I receive 5 reviews, I will make a post with all of the linkbacks. I will also add your site to the frontpage of Don’t Panic in the Review my Blog Linkbacks section. Once you post your review, contact me here and don’t forget to include your requested anchor text.

***Update*** I forgot to mention that I will leave the links on Don’t Panic for a minimum of 6 months.
